Decided to give this place a try. One of my folks was like they had it for lunch and it was real good, I must admit that they were correct. I got the chicken and the ribs platters. Both were well cooked, moist and very flavorful. The fries were on point and the rice was good too. The little veggie garnishes were perfect. I also got a side salad that went well with the Italian dressing that it came with. The also give you a soft long roll to go with the meal. I would order from here again in the future.
Service was friendly and food was good. The only reason I gave them one less star was that they were a little slow. Other than that, their food is tasty.
Sometimes you just don't wanna cook dinner and crave a nice bbq chicken with some carb on carb sides. This is the place to go if you're in Kearny. Tons of street parking and it's a decent size inside but you can tell it's definitely more of a take out spot. They have some tables and bar like community seating. The gal behind the counter was very nice and writes down your order right away. I always ask for a more well done chicken because I like it more burnt. Normally I always get a whole chicken, rice, French fries and a side of black beans. Yummm. The chicken is always perfectly seasoned and juicy. The yellow rice is cooked nicely and the fries are delicious. You can tell they're hand cut and fried to perfection. I really do love the olives and pickled veggies they sprinkle on the platter too. They offer a piece of bread with all your food as well. More carbs? Sure, why not! Definitely give this place a shot if you like great bbq.
Just the best BBQ In town!! This is the only place that I go when I'm craving churrasco.
I give this place 5 stars based entirely on the food and service both which were fantastic, but I must say, the food was surprisingly amazing; decor is back seat to this establishments food prep skills and ninja like speed and efficiency of handling my order. I had the Chicken & Rib combo with rice and beans for an extra buck and a coconut flan for dessert. The chicken- fantastically seasoned, lean and flavorful from the charcoal fire embers which you can plainly see in operation behind the register. The Ribs- so tender and juicy, and again, seasoned to perfection. The flan was unlike any I had before and was twice the size of the regular flan at the same price, so I couldn't resist, glad I didn't. The combo plate is served in a huge portioned aluminum tray with the beans on the side in a generous pint sized container usually seen in Chinese wonton takeout; they were exceptional- tender rice, flavorful beans, and not mushy either. A real gem among the many Portuguese restaurants peppering Essex county, I look forward to coming back here, it's worth the 18 min drive from Bloomfield. Bravo chefs!
